Cream Puffs
The first time I made these I think I was 14. I have always been fascinated with making things in the kitchen that were considered challenging. At 14, these qualified;) Fluffy cream puffs filled with whipped cream and topped with a drizzle of chocolate. Such a yummy dessert! They do require a bit of patience and a few steps to make but they are definitely worth it. Keep refrigerated until ready to serve.
Main Ingredients
1 cup water
1/2 cup butter
1/4 tsp salt
1 cup flour
4 Eggs
whipping cream
sugar
1 square semi sweet chocolate
2 tbs butter
1 cup icing sugar
2 tbs milk
Preparation
Step 1: Preheat oven to 400 F
Step 2: Bring 1 cup water to boil. Add butter and stir until melted.
Step 3: Add 1 cup flour all at once and stir vigorously until dough forms a ball. Remove from heat.
Step 4: Add eggs one at a time stirring well in between. Dough should be slightly glossy.
Step 5: Drop be tablespoon onto greased cookie sheet. Bake 30 minutes.
Step 6: Place on wire rack and allow to cool.
Step 7: Once cooled slice cream puff in half 3/4 of the way through, creating a lid.
Step 8: Whip heavy cream and add desired amount of sugar. You will need about 1 1/2 cups heavy cream.
Step 9: Spoon whip cream into cream puffs.
Step 10: For the icing, melt semi sweet chocolate in microwave. Add butter and stir to blend. Add icing sugar and milk and whisk well.
Step 11: Drizzle chocolate sauce over cream puffs.
Step 12: Sprinkle with more icing sugar before serving.
