Cantonese Pork Buns

Here is a delicious recipe for fall! A warm, savoury bun that you can enjoy at home or on the go. My kids loved these and took them in their lunches for school until they were gone. I plan on making these gain soon. Also this is a great recipe to use up leftover pork roast. I didn't post my bun recipe yet. You can use any bun recipe you have for these, or you can buy frozen bun dough. Either way I promise it will be delicious.

Main Ingredients

1 recipe of your favourite bun dough

2 pounds shredded cooked pork

2 Cloves garlic - crushed

1 tsp ginger

1 tbsp peanut oil

1 tbsp sesame oil

2 tbsp honey

2 tbsp hoisin sauce

2 tbsp soya sauce

1 tsp oyster sauce

1 tsp chinese five spice

1 tsp salt

Preparation

Step 1: Make your favourite bun recipe. I usually make mine in the bread machine. You will need to have the pork recipe ready to add to the buns before you shape them and they do their second rise.

Step 2: Preheat oven to 350F.

Step 3: Mix all ingredients except pork in a sauce pan. Bring to boil over medium heat stirring constantly. Boil 1 minute.

Step 4: Add sauce to shredded pork. Allow to cool.

Step 5: Take your dough and stuff about 2 tbsp of pork inside. Roll into a ball and pinch the bottom. Place pinched side down on a greased sheet. Leaving room for buns to rise.

Step 6: Allow buns to rise for 1 hour.

Step 7: Bake for 30 minutes.

Step 8: Immediately after removing from oven brush with butter and sprinkle with sesame seeds if desired.
