Upside Down Pizza

Looking for something different for family pizza night? Need something you can make ahead of time and cook later? This is a tasty recipe that's a little different than your conventional pizza. It takes all the yummy ingredients that you love about your pizza and puts them in a casserole the whole family will love.

Main Ingredients

2 lbs ground beef

1 cup chopped onion

1 cup chopped peppers - green or yellow

1/2 cup chopped zucchini

2 cups spaghetti sauce

1 cup pizza sauce

2 tsp italian seasoning

1 tsp white sugar

pepperoni slices

grated mozzarella cheese

For Crust:

3 eggs 

1 cup milk

2 tbsp oil

1 cup flour

1 tbsp baking powder

fresh parmesan cheese

 

Preparation

Step 1: Preheat oven to 375F

Step 2: Scramble fry ground beef in skillet. Add onions, peppers and sauce. Cook together until vegetables are soft.

Step 3: Add chopped zucchini, spaghetti sauce, Italian seasoning and and white sugar. Salt and pepper to taste.

Step 4: Grease a 9x13 casserole dish. Arrange pepperoni slices in a single layer on the bottom of the dish.

Step 5: Spread the beef and vegetable mixture on top.

Step 6: Sprinkle with grated mozzarella cheese.

Step 7: Spoon half the amount of pizza sauce over the cheese. Set aside.

Step 8: For the Crust: Mix together the eggs and milk until frothy. Add cooking oil and mix well. Add flour and baking powder. Mix well.

Step 9: Pour crust mixture over casserole.

Step 10: Bake for 20 minutes.

 

Step 11: Remove from oven and if desired cover with more pizza sauce and fresh parmesan cheese. Place back in on broil until cheese is golden and bubbly.
