Mom's Pizza Dough
I have such good memories of pizza night when I was young. We often had pizza on a Saturday night. I remember one night in particular, fresh out of the bathtub, my hair still dripping wet, walking down the hallway and smelling the incredible aroma of Mom's homemade pizza. Mom's recipe for pizza crust is thick and chewy...is there any other kind?
Pair it with my recipe for creamy garlic sauce or use tomato sauce and pile with your favourite toppings. Pictured here is pizza crust topped with shredded chicken, spinach leaves, red onion and feta cheese.
Main Ingredients
1 cup warm water
2 tsp sugar
1 tsp salt
1 tbsp cooking oil
2 tsp yeast
3 1/2 cups flour
Preparation
Step 1: Preheat oven to 350F.
Step 2: Warm one cup of water in microwave. Add sugar and stir to dissolve.
Step 3: Mix 1 cup of flour with yeast. Add the warmed water, salt and cooking oil. Mix well. You can make this dough in your mixer with the dough paddle attachment.
Step 4: Add the remaining flour one cup at a time until dough forms a ball and pulls away from sides of bowl.
Step 5: Set in a warm place to rise for 20 min.
Step 6: Roll dough out on floured surface until roughly the size of your pizza pan. This recipe will make two 9 inch round pizzas.
Step 7: Press dough into pan to fit, pressing a bit more at the edges to form a crust.
Step 8: Load with all your favourite toppings!
Step 9: Bake for 20 minutes.
